RFID helps you to get your hire car quickly

Sixt GmbH & Co. KG have approximately 45,000 vehicles and are the biggest car rental company in Germany. The high demand for cars and the fast availability of the car keys required a major logistical effort and led to longer waiting times at the car rental counters.

Vehicle keys have been tagged in a joint project with deister electronic and Sixt car rental. deister electronic and the B & M Auto-ID systems GmbH have developed specifically for the key output  a "counter-solution."  This ensures the maximum processing speed and simplicity and avoids double entries.

For this purpose, the B & M Auto ID Systems GmbH received the first prize on 2nd December 2010. The RFID SME Award was awarded by the Electronic Commerce Network and the Association of IT SME. The RFID technology saves people time and searching for keys gets eliminated. At the same time, the process of returning vehicles has been automated with the help of an e-return column. At return of the hired car, the key is simply thrown into the e-return column and the return time will be recorded automatically.
