The public utility company in Duisburg is one of 30 companies belonging to the Duisburg supply and traffic ltd. For Duisburg headquarters a key management system was sought, which safely organizes the output of the keys to the cleaning personnel. So far key issue was granted after a manual registration. This was obligation of the gatekeeping staff. Especially at start of work this proved to be complicated and time consuming. This complications should now be avoided and the administrative effort minimized, while the management of the keys should be realised without the possibility of manipulation. The proxSafe key management system of deister electronic fulfils these requirements. The public utility company Duisburg has chosen a proxSafe flexx system with 256 usable slots, a terminal, a LEGIC reader and the management software Commander 3. The identification of the employees goes via the existing LEGIC cards, because the systems of deister electronic are compatible with all current systems. Thus the integration into the existing access control system (exchange of master data) did not pose a problem. A speedily key issue and return is guaranteed around the clock. It is safe and verifiable by the automatic management and logging. All procedures are saved and logged with date, time and the personal number of the employee. At the same time the usage of the proxSafe flexx system is very simple. The respective key slot lights up and navigates the user to the desired key ring. The system currently manages approximately 200 key slots (about 1,000 individual keys) of the plant protection of Duisburg supply and traffic ltd..
