Vehicle identification inside car-wash
Günter Badenhop Fleischwerke KG in Verden is improving and optimizing its logistic management system.
For the transportation of pet food they are obliged to proof to the Veterinary Office that all vehicles are cleaned according to hygienic provisions. Hand written handover documents were no longer sufficient.
To meet the requirements of the authorities the company has recognized the benefits of RFID and asked the system integrator all-in-one GmbH from Bremen to establish a suitable solution. all in one was counting on proven technology and implemented UHF transponders and readers from deister electronic GmbH. Since the vehicles are washed with brine, the transponders had to be alkali resistant. Previous tests with other products had been unsuccessful. But deister transponders withstand the corrosive effects - the steel railing where the transponders are attached to did not.
Transponders were mounted on all vehicles, trailers, containers and silos. All four company-owned car washes have been equipped with deister readers, which are controlled by motion detectors. When a vehicle is driven into the washing bay it is automatically identified. The vehicle information gets displayed at a terminal. The employee on the job starts the washing program identifing himself by transponder card at a reader which is connected to the terminal. After washing, the vehicle gets identified again at the exit.
Fine adjustments were necessary to rule out the following factors: If a vehicle is driven too close to the entrance of the car wash without entering, it should not be identified. If a vehicle passes the entrance reader to the car wash while maneuvering several times, it should not be registered every time.
All cleaning information such as date and time, washing program and washer will be printed and given as a certificate accompanying the vehicle.
