Best control over the safety of air traffic and of modern key management

Belgocontrol is located near the airport of Zaventem, Brussels, its an autonomous public company in charge of the safety of air traffic in the civil. It guarantees the safety of air navigation in the controlled civil airspace above Belgium and the grand duchy of Luxembourg for which Belgium is responsible, as well as at the five Belgian public airports. More than 900 persons among whom 400 air traffic controllers work on 7 sites, day and night, 365 days a year. At Belgocontrol security is high, different systems are implemented to guarantee the security of the employees and the infrastructure. Access to most doors is controlled by the access control system, it's however to expensive to equip all door with readers and a controller. Nevertheless access to every door has to be managed too; this was executed by the security guards. The goal was to optimise time of the security personnel and achieving accuracy. All keys are stored in proxSafe maxx system, installed in each building on the site. Security staff is now managing from there office, who is when authorized to use which key giving access to facilities, equipment, rooms and even vehicles.

The numbers of lost keys are reduced, keys not returned in time are reported immediately and with the reporting tools any key can be tracked immediately. Ten proxSafe maxx systems have been installed on nine locations, holding a total of 320 keys or key bundles. The credentialing technology used by the access control system has been embedded for high security. „No time lost anymore to find keys, keys are less lost resulting in cost saving for key & cylinder replacement.“
