JVA Salinenmoor, proxSafe locker pillar S14

The prison in Celle relies on innovative RFID technology.

The department includes 231 male prisoners who have to stay up to 5 years.
Key retrieval was previously issued with high personnel and time consuming effort at the entrance. The keys are not allowed to leave the prison under any circumstances. That's the only way to ensure high security.

Task:
A secure key management system was meant to be installed, which is also set up in its own space. Every guard is getting his own compartment to secure the keys while not on duty. During their duty time they can lock away mobile phones or other things. To ensure a smooth withdrawal and return, the staff has access to the compartments using two terminals. It was desired that the identifying the staff is still done with the existing ID card system. The control, supervision and complete documentation will be guaranteed 24/7 by a monitoring software in the office entrance 30 meters away. One requirement is that all occupancy types of subjects are presented graphically and in tabular form.

Solution:
The proxSafe pillar S system from deister electronic fulfills these requirements and ensures high security. The key compartment system pillar S14 with a total of 176 compartments, can be operated at the same time via two terminals. Each compartment has a mail slot for additional distribution of internal mail. To ensure the increased security requirements, the identification of the guard patrol staff is done via HID transponders from the time of acquisition at the C4-multi-function terminal. The keys are fixed by using a sealed keyTag - the electronic key ring. Every movement and usage of the keyTags is automatically and securely logged and archived. All procedures are saved and described in detail with date, time and personnel number of the relevant staff. The monitoring of the system is done by the proxSafe Commander 3 software using a computer at the entry gate.
For the configuration and operation of the user-friendly system a service compartment has been directly integrated into the system interface.

Benefits:
The rapid and automatic key retrieval without loss of time is effectively guaranteed 24/7, even at high removing frequencys during the shift changes. All operations such as the key withdrawal and returns are logged in the commander database and the terminal and are always accessible (internal memory will save up to 7.000 events). The gatekeeper has a constant overview about the assignment of the single compartments. Protocols can be accessed within seconds. The proxSafe compartment system can be installed at another location, extended or reorganized without problems. The large memory of the multifunction terminals makes the system extremely safe. Even in case of power failure power outages can be bridged. The staff is relieved at the same time, security is enhanced, management is streamlined and operating times and costs are reduced.
