City plants Duisburg optimize key management with proxSafe flexx

City plants Duisburg is one of the 30 companies with over 4,000 employees that belong to the supply and transport companies of Duisburg mbH (DVV). City plants Duisburg supplys the city round the clock with electricity, gas, heat and water. Duisburg's corporate headquarters were looking for a key management system that organizes issuing the keys to the cleaners safely and under control.

Task:
Previously, the key retrievval was based on registration in a key book. This task was accomplished by the staff at the front office. In particular, the working start of the cleaning staff has proven itself to be complicated and time consuming. The staff were meant to have less work, the administrative work had to be minimized, but at the same time the key management needed to be realized without manipulation.

Solution:
These requirements were fulfilled by the key management system proxSafe from deister electronic. The city plants Duisburg have decided for a proxSafe flexx sytem with 256 possible key holders, terminal, legic-reader and the commander 3 software. The identification of employees takes place via the existing LEGIC cards. As the systems of deister are compatible with all major systems, the integration into the existing AC system (stock exchange) was no problem at all. This eliminates duplicate data base maintenance. All procedures are exactly saved and printed with date, time and personnel number of the  employee.

Benefits:
The quick key retrieval and return is ensured 24/7. It is safe and detectable by the automatic management and logging. The operation of the proxSafe flexx system is very simple. The individual key slot lights up and the user is navigated to the appropriate position. With the current system approximately 200 key slots (approximately 1,000 individual keys) are managed from the plant protection of the DVV.
